We just took our dog to the vet and the answer is yes pumpkin. She also told us we could give him metamucil once a day…he has a hernia that makes it difficult for him to go. So he is going to need to take the fiber the rest of his life.

Don’t feel bad if you can’t afford to take your dog to the vet. He is your family but unlike humans they don’t live on average for 80 years. And putting thousands of dollars into him just for another year or two isn’t always the best answer. Do whatever you feel is right and don’t worry about what others think. He is your dog and you know what’s best for him. Sometimes all you can do is keep loving him. And I think thats really all they want.

I had a very timid papillion and he had hair loss because of stress. You need to block all hiding places and have your finance take over. He should walk him alot and gently spend time with him. He should be the only one to feed him treats. He should pet the dog on his lap as much as possible. You need to step back and let the dog learn to trust that he wont be hurt by him. It will take some time. The biggest sign that something is wrong with a papillion is their tail drops.

I think as long as the food you feed your dog is healthy and has some supplements in it, then you don’t have to give your dog anything extra. My dog has been eating a food called Alpha with prebiotics in it and it helped his tummy issues. I was going to get him a supplement but when the food worked I didn’t have to. Saved me money and he’s wonderfully healthy and happy!

Pet insurance, a bit of a sore subject in our house at the moment. I know it is not dog insurance but our son has got a snake which normally cost a lot to keep and the vet bills are normally minimal. Not this time the snake had an infection and has been to the vets every 3 days for the last six weeks. At great expense I must add. We even talked abuout insurance and laughed about it . Saying what would we want insurance for a snake for . How wrong we were.

We use Frontline which is excellent and really works. I was worried at the start when my pet first got fleas as I thought a vet was the only one who could administer Frontline but now I am happy to do this myself.
