Okay. We have a acre of land with a fence and an invisible fence thing, also we wouldn’t want a dog that had tons of energy. A dog that didn’t need to be walked that much would be nice. Also a breed that doesn’t have a lot of health problems, and that doesn’t need any special daily care. Not a huge dog, but not to small. What breed would be good for us?
There are a lot of options with that fit those requirements. In fact, you could probably get a nice one at the animals shelter. If you have your heart set on a purebred, you should take one of those online breed selector tests. I’ve posted links to some of those below. My advice would be to take all three and see which breeds come up on all three of them and concentrate on those breeds.

A lab would be the best. All they need is food and water and can be hyper when you want to play, but they can also be laid back in times when there is no one around.
I would say boarder collie because they’re not very hyper (after a year or two) unless you run around with them and try to get them to play with you and stuff and they’re absolutely GORGEOUS! I luv them, and they’re long-haired. labs are kind of hyper and so are retrievers, so I would say boarder collie. if you don’t have a hyper family, then I would say yep, boarder collie should be great! good luck!
The best breed for you, given your requirements would be a stuffed animal.
Now, if you want to get serious and realistic, start by taking the breed selector quiz at k9 Country. http://www.k9country.com/
I would go for the most people friendly, lovable and affectionate dog there is. An American Pit Bull Terrier. Mine is 55 lbs, so not too big. Short hair so does not take a lot of grooming. When they get past the puppy stage they are pretty laid back. But like all puppies are pretty hyper.
A Beagle is a great dog if you want a smaller dog, around 25 lbs. Short hair so not a grooming problem Mine is a clown and always doing something funny. He gets on my bed and takes a nap under or between the pillows.
I would suggest a Papillon.
They are small but do not need a lot of walks. They have high energy and make amazing agility dogs.
They are easy to train and are the tenth smartest dog breed making them wonderful in obedience.
They do well in both hot and cold weather, get along with all pets and kids.
If you are looking for a reputable breeder I would suggest Ma and Pa’s place
I have got both a Shih Tzu and a Papillon through them and they both are amazing pets.
They ship all over the U.S. I do not know a lot about that though since I live about 30 minutes from there.
Here is the link to there site.
