What Breed Of Dog Would Be Best For This Family?

by wendy on December 13, 2009

Okay looking for a dog to join a family of 3. 2 adults, 1 child (girl 8 years old). And two other dogs, a female Terrier mix and a male Poodle. (9/10 years old)
So the dog would need to be good with kids and other dogs.
Would like an energetic dog but also a dog that could be calm at appropriate times (such as when we calm down the dog needs to calm down)
Can provide 2 daily walks and a medium sized yard for the dog to play in.
Can provide a good stable environment, training classes, and good health care for the dog.
Would like a dog that doesn’t require trips to the groomer every so many weeks (so a shedding dog)
No smaller than 25lbs and No bigger than 65lbs
Thanks

NOT BREED SPECIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOT!!!
If you can’t maintain discipline,breed-or lack thereof-make absolutely no difference.
If you can’t get off your donkey & TRAIN,NOTHING will “calm down” unless it’s DEAD….or drugged into coma.
If you can’t bestir yourself to READ BREED STANDARDS & pick your own dog, you’re just as inept & lazy as all the 8yo kiddies infesting this section….just bored & lonely today? Need a cyber-poll to tell you what color socks to wear ,too?

Go to http://www.iams.com click on dog breed selector and it will tell you what breeds fit your qualifications the best.
It asks you what size of pet, does it like dogs or cats, energy level and other questions that will help you find your match.
I did the survey in March and my Border collie fits in great with my other 2 dogs.

My first suggestion would be a a golden retriever. they pretty much get alone with everyone. Also, you could get another terrier, or mix breed. Check out your local shelter, I’m sure they’ve got a dog for you. That’s how I came across my sweet dog.

Beagles are pretty cool dogs. Go on http://www.petfinder.com to see if they have a breed near you that you want.

I have boxers and a pomeranian but I am fostering a lab/ reterv xed he is better than our female boxer. He is very calm when he has to be and loves everyone. He also is a very devoted dog to his owners and would rather be w/ people than the other dogs. So I would suggest a lab or retrev of somesort. go to http://www.Puppyfind.com

u should try a lab mix because labs can get big but if you mix them with a smaller dog they can be a medion size dog
hope that helps
