A guy I work with found a box with abandoned pit-bull pups, we believe they are around 2 weeks their eyes arent open yet, I bought puppy formula, for the one pup I took, but I’m not sure what else to do and I know that this is a very crucial time, the runt already died. Thank you
If I were you, I would contact a shelter in the area, like the spca, or humane society. They might have another litter and the mom might accept these puppies into her litter. This will allow the dogs to get the nutrition they need and give them the socialization they will get from the mom and the littermates.
Plus, these groups would know more about taking care of the puppies than someone who has no clue.
Please contact a good rescue in your area. Think of what is best for the puppies.
Good luck.

You’ve taken on quite a task–Good for You! Feed the pup the formula you’ve bought every 2-3 hours & be sure to use either a baby wipe or soft wet cloth to wipe the pup’s bottom after it eats. It will make him go potty, that’s how the mom does it. It would help if you document how much & when the pup eats & if you can, weigh it often so you can be sure it’s gaining weight. Also, contact a vet & have it checked out to be sure their isn’t something wrong like worms or cleft pallette. I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor. And may the idiot that dumped the puppies be struck down with boils!
take it to a vet or animal shelter as quickly as possible. Puppies are a bit of a pain but they are cheaper than humans
You’ve got to get them to a vet immediately. They may need to be in the care of a professional until they are a bit older. The vet can also contact shelters and try to find homes for them.
For puppies this young try feeding them with an eye dropper. You’re off to a good start with the formula. Make sure the puppy is fed at least every two hours at this age. Either use a hot water bottle (requires frequent changing) or heating pad in a small box. Make sure there is at least 2 layers of towels between the pup and heating pad to avoid exposure to moisture and buring. Slightly wrap the pup in another towel. You can also purchase a wind up alarm clock and place it in under the towels as well. The ticking sounds helps to emulate the mothers heartbeat. If you are lucky to get the pup past the critical stage to where it is eating on it’s own watch for signs of early aggression. Pit bull puppies are at a higher risk to early aggression and if this is the case there is nothing you can do for his disposition. It’s a genetic problem that can not be corrected by TLC or training. Also get him to the vet soon. Having been abandoned it’s possible to have other health issues related to flies, ticks and even worms. Puppies are very suseptible to a lot at this stage and if left untreat will definately mean their death. Do not use over the counter products for animals this young.
They need to be kept hydrated.. You have to make sure that they eat, and you have to help them pee and poop.. Take a warm damp cloth and rub their belly down towards the bum to make them go.. You have to do this regularly, you have to feed this puppy every 2 hours.. You have to keep checking to make sure that it’s not dehydrated… If it gets dehydrated you have to see the vet so you can get it liquids quickly.. Dehydration kills very young puppies very quickly.. Keep the puppy nice and snuggly warm and out of drafts. No way you can find a mom that would take the puppy on??? That would be the best thing possible.
contact your local shelters. They will take them or foster them out. Rescue groups for pitbulls is another place to start. Type in “pitbull rescue” on your search engine and you will find lots of them. Browse them to find one in your area and call them.
I suggest goat milk over puppy milk replacers. I’ve not lost a one on goat milk. Can’t say the same for replacers. :’ ( Keepo a frequent feeding schedule and don’t overfeed, which is actuially worse then underfeeding. Has anyone taught you about stimulating the babies to pee and poop? A cottonball or two wet in warm water should be rubbed briskly over the anus and genetalia to induce elimination, as they can’t eliminate without stimulation and will become septic and die. Other than that, and keping them warm and safe, there’s not much more you can do at this time. As they get older, they will need more socialization and contact with people and situations to prevent behavior issues. Thanks for taking in these little ones, and best of luck!

I might call the vet if you want more input, but putting these pups into a shelter or vets office will expose them to all kinds of viruses and infections that would be the death of them, especially parvo. I can only thin that someone who would do this to innocent puppies wouldn’t give a rat’s @$$ about vaccinating the mother.
